Requesting sales permits for temporary markets or fairs

Who can make this request? Individuals
When was the procedure started?

The submission period for applications for the list for the respective markets is from 1 to 30 September every two years starting from 1995 (odd numbered years).

Opening hours: Mondays and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm

Documentation to be submitted

If the request is submitted outside of the application period then you must provide the following documents:

Correctly completed request form specifying the temporary or crafts market in question and line of products to be sold (according to the chosen market)
If the request is submitted within the application period:

Temporary markets:

  • Correctly completed request form (depending on the market in question). Applicants should also submit documentation proving the fulfilment of the assessment criteria for the allocation of stalls, providing originals or authenticated copies of each document;
  • Family book, legal document or other evidence proving kinship, and in the case of adult members of the family proving dependency of family member in question;
  • Certificates documenting any physical, psychological or sensorial disabilities of each person who lives with the applicant;
  • Certificate documenting the years the applicant has been registered for business tax (Impuesto de Actividades Económicas, IAE) or business tax payment receipts corresponding to each year that the applicant has been registered to carry out sales activities from markets or mobile stalls;
    Documentation certifying any other positive points which the applicant believes should be taken into account.

Crafts markets in Plaça Major and Meravelles:

  • Correctly completed request form specifying the market requested.

Once the applicant has been called by Market Services, they must then submit the following documentation (original and photocopy):

  • Current national identity card or foreigner identification number;
  • Current residency and work permits (foreign applicants only);
  • Documentation certifying registration with Social Security/proving that the applicant is up to date with their social security contributions;
  • Document proving that the applicant is registered for the appropriate business tax (Impuesto de Actividades Económicas, IAE);
  • Documentation proving the possession of a civil liability insurance policy (valid for the whole period of the permit applied for) covering personal risk and materials against third parties related to the exercise of the commercial activity as an itinerant salesperson;
  • Food handling certificate (where appropriate);
  • Two passport-sized photos;
  • Statement of compliance with the requirements set out in Article 60 of the Regulation of Market Services (form provided by Market Services);
Where can I request this? The request may be handed in at any OAC office (Registry)
Price and payment method

Fee applicable to the provision of services in municipal public markets (concept 316-05). The fee must be paid once a stall has been granted at a temporary market. Payments must be made at the Municipal Tax Collection Office (Pl. Santa Eulalia, 9, 1st floor).

Requirements Applicants must have the legal capacity to sign contracts and not be subject to any of the prohibitions, incapacities or incompatibilities set out in the regulation on administrative contracts (Article 60 of Market Services Regulations).

Comments

Tariffs are calculated per linear metre of the façade of the sale or service area. The tariff due for stalls placed on a corner will be calculated based on the length of both sides of the corner.

When can I find out my position on the list for market stalls according to the points I have received in my assessment? The list is published in February of the year following, although it takes effect on 31 December of the year it is opened.
