Claims related to consumer issues - Municipal Consumer Information Office (Oficina Municipal de Información al Consumidor, OMIC)

Documentation to be submitted
  • Complaints form, dispute or claim (duly completed);
  • Supporting documentation recording the commercial relationship (estimate, receipt, invoice, etc.);
  • Documentation authorizing legal representation (where appropriate);
  • Documentation proving that the person or entity making the claim is the final consumer (for example, an invoice in their name).
  • Other documentation related to the commercial relationship may be required depending on the case.

    Requirements

    The request to initiate a claims process can be carried out by an individual or legal entity (the latter must be a non-profit organization, NGO, etc.) who is the final consumer of the product or service. One of the parties involved in the commercial relationship which is the cause of the claim must be a resident of or have a business in Palma (either the citizen affected or the business which has provided the product or service) in order for the Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) to be able to deal with the claim.

    I would like to make a claim related to a purchase I made in Palma, but I live in a different municipality. Can I still apply to the Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) in Palma? Yes. The OMIC can deal with the claim as long as one of the parties involved in the commercial relationship is a resident of or has their business in Palma.
